What Kind of Potatoes To Use:
I love using Yukon Gold Potatoes because they are creamy and almost buttery on its own. I also love to use a small baby potato as they crisp us better than big potatoes.
Ingredients Needed:
Here is what you will need to make these smashed potato recipe:
- Potatoes: Yukon Gold and baby size
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil – I use a Squeeze Bottle with a lid for my Olive Oil as it is easier and more controlled to spread on food. I also like to use Bertolli Extra Virgin – light tasting oil as it doesn’t have a strong taste that takes away from the natural flavours of the potato
- Granulated Garlic – Always…
- Paprika – Gives a slight smokey flavour of paprika for flavour on potatoes
- Sea Salt & Pepper
Gin Spiked Sour Cream

Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 1 bag Yukon Gold potatoes or approximately 4 cups
- 2-3 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tbsp. granulated garlic
- 1 tbsp. paprika
- 1 tbsp. sea salt or seasoned salt
- 1 tbsp. black pepper or to taste
- 2 green onion, chopped
Instructions
- Wash your potatoes well and then place them in a pot and fill with water that covers one inch above the potatoes. Add a teaspoon of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until a fork pierces the potatoes, but they still remain intact. This should be approx. 15 minutes. Do NOT overcook as they will cook a bit more in the air fryer or oven and they will be too soft when you smash them down. Drain the potatoes and pour them out onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Let them cool a bit or until they are easy to handle. Using a fork or potato masher, carefully smash the potatoes until they are flattened to approximately a half inch thick. If find this step very satisfying. Add a bit of olive oil to each potato. *Tip: Get yourself squeeze bottle with a lid for your olive oil. The oil spreads much nicer and more controlled. It really is great for everyday use!Sprinkle the potatoes with granulated garlic, paprika, salt and pepper. It is now prepared for the air fryer or oven. You can set this aside now until you are ready to bake. For the Air Fryer: Transfer your potatoes carefully to the wire basket of your air fryer. Leave space between each potato. Air fry at 400 degrees for approximately 10 minutes. Make sure to watch it around the 8 minute mark to make sure that you get your desired crispiness. For the Oven: Pre heat the oven to 425 degrees. Place your parchment lined baking sheet with your smashed potatoes into the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until your desired crispiness. To Serve: Scatter your Green onions around the potatoes, and sour cream.
