Ingredients

  • 6 Golden or Yellow skinned potatoes sliced into 1/8 inch slices
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1 packet of dry Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. seasoning salt
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • To begin, slice the potatoes on a mandolin and add them to a large bowl. Season the potatoes with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Give them a good toss.
  • Grease an 8x8 square baking dish. Layer all the potatoes until it reaches 1/2 inch from the top of the baking dish.
  • Next, add seasoning salt, and nutmeg to your 2 cups of milk. Give it a stir.
  • For the sauce, add butter to the skillet and melt over low to medium heat. Add the 3 tbsp. flour and whisk for 2 minutes. Next, pour the milk and the Lipton Onion Soup Mix into the pan and whisk until slightly thickened approximately 3-4 minutes.
  • Now pour the liquid over top the layered potatoes. Wrap with tin foil and bake for 35 minutes in the oven. After the 35 minutes remove the tin foil and continue to bake for another 20-25 minutes. The potatoes are done when you can stick a knife through the potatoes with ease and when the top has turned a beautiful golden colour.
  • Cool slightly and serve.
